Representative Malinowski Announces NJ-07 Small Business Reopening Tour

Press Release

Date: July 9, 2020
Location: Somerville, NJ

Today, Rep. Malinowski announced his COVID safe small business reopening tour. The COVID-19 pandemic forced small businesses across New Jersey's 7th District to close their doors or significantly alter the way they operate. As we begin to safely reopen, Representative Malinowski will spend the next two weeks meeting with business owners across the 7thDistrict to discuss how the crisis has affected them, check in with Paycheck Protection Program beneficiaries, and profile business modeling COVID safe opening practices.

The tour will make stops in Hunterdon, Warren, Morris, Somerset, Union, and Essex Counties; highlighting local businesses that have made changes to their business model, alterations to their physical space, and adjustments to their staffing in order to keep their customers safe. Examples will include personal care services and healthcare providers, small farms, and local restaurants.

"Our small businesses have sacrificed so much to help keep our communities safe and healthy," said Representative Malinowski. "I look forward to meeting with these business owners who have worked hard to keep their businesses afloat over the last few months and see what more we can do to help them."

Last week, the House of Representatives passed an extension of the Paycheck Protection Program lending deadline from June 30 to August 8.
